Masters Mini-sumo Competition

The Master’s mini-sumo competition is open for magnetics. The robots are under the same size and weight restrictions as the regular mini-sumo competition (10cm2 and 500 g, respectively). In past years, this has been a contest to beat Dave Hylands. Dave regularly brings several top contenders to this match.

Because of Ender's Wraith by Grant McKee, this year the Master’s was different. Ender's Wraith arrived at ECRG fresh from winning at the Western Canadian Robot Games and at Robothon, and taking second place at Robolympics and PDXbot. Grant’s mini did it again, taking first at this year’s games. Dave Hylands’ Marauder took second place.

One of the entertaining moments came when the judges pitted Ender’s Wraith up against the winners of the full sized sumo competition. So, how did the 500g Master’s champion fare against the winners of the 3kg class? Ender’s Wraith took them down.
